Journey To The Heart Of Maha Shivaratri In...
There is no doubt that Maha Shivaratri is among the most awaited festivals in Mauritius. Hundreds of thousands of devotees go to Ganga Talao to seek the blessings of the much revered deity of the Hindu trinity, Shiva. I had the opportunity to attend this colorful and evocative festival on Sunday. Sadly though, most of the photos I took turned out to be slightly murky. I’m really sorry for...

Is The Drought In Mauritius A Wake-Up Call To Act?
It’s only a few months ago that you saw your neighbor cleaning his house with a Kärcher. Of course, who really cared about water at that time? You pay around Rs. 200 for it monthly and a hell Rs. 20 for a bottle of Vital water. We didn’t really care about the value of this precious liquid until today … Mare Aux Vacoas. That’s a photo from Le Matinal, thanks. Right now,...

Stay Away From The Mauritian Stalker On Facebook
Stalkers There are some people who consider themselves to be too smart on the internet. You know, they are the one who spend 24 hours a day on Facebook and they stalk on the people they don’t know. They are going to examine deeply each and every single photos of yours. They are going to visit your profile each and every hour even if they don’t know you. In fact, they love it because...

Ever wondered the rank of Mauritius when it comes to the download speed of other countries in the world? It’s 121. In other words, 120 countries have a much better internet connection than Mauritius. Irony À La Pravind And Navin
Wait … A few days ago, you hear the measures of Pravind Jugnauth in the 2011 budget. That is, an increase in the fees for the operation of casinos.  Today, you hear that an Indian company is planning to invest more than 1 billion rupees in building a casino in Mauritius. That’s just the icing on the cake. You also hear the wish of Navin Ramgoolam to see more Indian investment. Who...

Is This The New Facebook Email?
You’ve probably heard of the new email system which Facebook would be releasing on Monday. Apparently, the login page of this new feature is already live. Check the screenshot below. You want to try it yourself? Go to http://mail.facebook.com/. Weirdly, the page gets redirected to Thefacebook. However, it also shows that it is supported by Outlook Web App. Moreover, the copyright is dated...

The magnifying glass
I was feeling pretty bored when I came across this magnifying glass. A magnifying glass magnifies things. That line was purely necessary. Here goes the photos …   Minimalistic …  That’s actually the Ubuntu sticker on my laptop along with the thing which magnifies things. Le Matinal … Laws gone haywire! Normally, there is a software for that purpose but I decided...

Scholarships for everyone!
Flipping through the pages of Le Matinal, I came across an ad by ‘Les Moulins de la Concorde Ltée’. Actually, the company was congratulating 20 lucky Mauritian bakers. The bakers would attend a course on bakery in France, sponsored by the company. I believe that this is something worthy and great. The course would enable them to improve themselves and cook better breads which we...

Many Mauritian bloggers are writing the following as header nowadays. I guess I should do so as well. Whatever I’m writing on this blog is my opinion, you may have yours as well and you can share them by commenting below. It is futile to do personal attacks or argue that blogging is all about spamming. Thanks. Today morning, a Rottweiler and a German Shepherd Dog were euthanised. Those dogs...

Arrogant Remo D'Souza!
Mauritian students and youngsters did not remain unfazed after an irritating incident took place at the University of Mauritius. In fact, Remo D’Souza and his team are currently in Mauritius to shoot for a movie called Faltu. Now, some students were given the opportunity to do some background roles in the movie. However, they didn’t get paid even if they were promised so. You can read...

Music
Music is a universal form of communication, cutting across all periods of history and all regions of the planet. Human beings were probably inspired to produce music by the sounds they heard in the world of nature, like birdsong and animal cries, which formed the background of their daily existence. Holy cow! I hope Cambridge will not sue me for copyright infringement because I actually copied...

The rainbow of Rabindranath Tagore Secondary...
It was a cold winter morning near the basketball pitch of the Rabindranath Tagore Secondary School and I decided to take out my books to revise for the exams … When suddenly … A beautiful rainbow appeared before me and my friends! Definitely, I took out my LG KU250 to take its pictures. By the way, my mobile was successfully repaired some days ago.  The rainbow ran through...

What a good news! Switched on my PC after watching Navin talking about the general elections he won some hours ago and saw an epic post by Yashvin on Facebook. The picture above shows all about the good news! Mauritius is ranked 6th among the world’s 10 cleanest countries! This a very good news indeed! Some weeks ago, the video by Thalassa seemed to ruin the reputation of our island...

Orange expo 2010
Friend: So you are coming to the Orange expo 2010?
Me: Nope.
Friend: Why?
Me: I think you are the only one having 48 hours during one day.
Friend: o.o
Me: Can't you see it's just a commercial event by Orange Mauritius?
Friend: How can you say that? They will be showing the iPhone dude! The iPhone with HD TV to be more precise! And 3D television as well! The latest technologies in simple words! You'll learn a lot of new things!
Me: You noob! 3D television already took birth in 1844 when 3D photos were introduced! The iPhone was launched in 2007! We are in 2010 now!
Friend: Difficult to argue with you but what about HD TV on the iPhone? That was not invented in 1844, right?
Me: Haha! You seriously expect to have HD TV on the iPhone with such an epic slow Orange Mauritius internet in Mauritius! You'll have to follow the quote which says that patience is virtue seriously then! Because buffering will be pretty uncomfortable for you!
Friend: OK. But at least, you can come as the whole school will be going. Yep, the school will go to Orange expo 2010. See how caring Orange Mauritius is for the youth of today!
Me: Orange Mauritius is simply trying to dope the number of visitors to the expo! So that it will be declared a success which of course will be the case later on!
Friend: You are just a pessimist! Wonder what can actually make you come to the expo ...
Me: iPad! Nexus One! Nokia N900! Super fast and stable internet connection promised by Orange Mauritius which will just be a dream by all means! What else?
Friend: OK. Bye. Wonder what's the iPad though ...
